Peatart Gallery is een concept gallery en atelier waar kunst en interieurobjecten tentoon gesteld worden van het oer oude Nederlandse product turf en andere materialen uit het veenmoeras.
Peat oftewel turf is de basis van de Peatart Gallery. Vanaf 12 juli 2017 heeft zij haar deuren geopend in het monumentale pandje in de Kerkstraat 76 in Amsterdam waar nog de originele gevelsteen in de muur zit van een turfdrager “In-d’Turf-drager”.
Kunstenaar Dioni ten Busschen begon in 2010 met het ontwikkelen van een nieuw procedé om turf te gebruiken als basis voor een kneedbare substantie. Voordelen zijn dat het niet in de oven hoeft, het heel licht is, in elke vorm te modelleren is, hard is, beschilderbaar is en het zich in gedroogde toestand laat verwerken als geperst hout. En niet te vergeten er prachtig uit ziet met haar eigen diep bruine, brons-achtige kleur door de duizenden jaren van humificatie.
Peatart is een totaal concept voor kunst en interieur en vertegenwoordigd en stimuleert kunstenaars om met het unieke en veelzijdige materiaal turf te werken. De collectie bestaat uit sculpturen, objecten, schilderijen en tekeningen, meubels en verlichting. Naast turf worden er ook andere materialen gebruikt uit het moeras zoals het duizenden jaren oude “kienhout”.

Peat is the basis of the Peatart Gallery. From July 2017 the doors of the monumental building at Kerkstraat 76 in Amsterdam have been open. The building can be recognised by the original gable stone “In-d’Turf carrier” which shows a peat carrier. The stone originates from 1689, the year that the building was finalised.
Artist Dioni ten Busschen started in 2010 with the development of a new process of using peat as the basis for a malleable substance. The advantages are that it does not have to be in the oven, it is very light, it can be modelled in any shape, it is hard, it can be painted and can be processed as pressed wood when in dried state. And last but not least, it looks beautiful with its own deep brown, bronze-like colour after thousands of years humification of sphagnum mosses and bog plants.
Peatart is a total concept for art and interior design. It represents and encourages artists to work with the unique and versatile material peat. The collection consists of sculptures, objects, paintings and drawings, furniture and lighting. In addition to peat, other materials from bog lands are used such as thousands of years old bogwood.
